Chuar Revolt:Medinipur came under the British rule in 1760. Company's taxation rule made the zaminders annoued. In the year 1799, Midnapore zaminder Rani Rasmoni, Narajol zaminder Chunilal Khan led their Bagdi, Majhi, Lodha casted pikes(chuar) to fight against British. This revolt is known to us as 'Chuar Revolt'. |
